SAN ANTONIO – A construction project is going to affect traffic on a portion of Broadway on Thursday and Friday. Beginning at 7 a.m., there will be one-way only traffic on Broadway between Nottingham Drive and Nacogdoches Road, according to a news release from the Public Works Department. Commuters will be able to travel southbound on Broadway, but the northbound lanes will be closed while construction crews install an underground sewer system. The road is scheduled to reopen in both directions on Friday at 5 p.m., weather permitting. Message boards have been posted to make commuters aware of the upcoming roadway closure.

SAN ANTONIO – A 30-year-old man was shot after he found himself in the middle of two vehicles that were racing or involved in a road rage incident Wednesday night on the city’s Northeast Side, police said. According to San Antonio police, the victim told officers that he was driving westbound on Loop 410 from Interstate 35 around 7:50 p.m. when he ended up between a gray sedan and a red SUV that had traveling erratically. SAN ANTONIO – A woman’s car caught fire after she crashed into a utility pole on the city’s Northeast Side early Monday morning, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 12300 block of Nacogdoches Road, not far from Perrin Beitel Road and Thousand Oaks Drive. According to police, the female driver for an unknown reason lost control of her vehicle and hit the power pole. Police said the car caught fire and the pole began smoking. Nacogdoches Road was closed in both directions as CPS Energy made repairs to the utility pole.

SAN ANTONIO – A north San Antonio gas station racked up a long list of food safety violations last month due to cleanliness issues throughout much of the establishment. Quick & Easy Stop, located in the 3200 block of Nacogdoches Road, received a health score of 82 after an inspector noted the ice machine had a soiled interior and found fruit flies in the employee restroom. Staff at the gas station was also using cardboard as lining on the shelves of the walk-in cooler and the walls, floor and sink in a restroom were covered in dirt and dust, city health records show. SAN ANTONIO – A 48-year-old man who died when he crashed his motorcycle into a minivan on the Northeast Side has been identified. Moments before the crash, Kret stopped at a traffic light on the northbound lanes of Nacogdoches Road at Judson. Kret and driver of the Nissan both began revving their engines, police said, and when the light turned green, both accelerated at a high rate of speed. The Nissan turned off Nacogdoches into a shopping center, and Kret continued traveling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle struck the back of the minivan, throwing the motorcyclist off the bike and into the air.

SAN ANTONIO – The driver who was killed in a rollover crash on the city’s Northeast Side early Monday has been identified. The victim was identified Wednesday by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as Samuel Valdez, 40. According to police, Valdez was speeding on Loop 410 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the center divider, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times across the freeway near Nacogdoches Road. Valdez was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he died.

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Northeast Side apartment complex late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the Salado Creek Apartments in the 3400 block of Salado Creek Drive, not far from Nacogdoches Road and Loop 410. According to police, the victim had gotten into a confrontation with the suspect and was shot one time in the chest. Police said the suspect fled in vehicle and is still at-large. Authorities did not give a description of the suspect or say who the victim is.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – San Antonio police say a woman, identified Thursday as 65-year-old Oralia Gonzalez Castillo, was hit by a pickup and killed on the city’s Northeast Side after she had just left a nearby restaurant where she bought breakfast tacos. SAN ANTONIO – A woman in her 60s was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a Northeast Side street early Wednesday morning, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Nacogdoches Road just south of Wurzbach Parkway. According to police, the woman was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle. Several witnesses saw the collision and are also talking with police. The name of the woman killed was not released.
