The fire broke out around 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cortland View at TPC apartments, located in the 4000 block of TPC Parkway. AdA fire department supervisor told KSAT Friday morning that a total of 130 apartments had been damaged or destroyed. Firefighters say water outages in the area left the fire hydrants inside the apartment complex dry. Investigators with the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s office will be looking into the cause of the fire once it is extinguished.

The woman said the man, who had existing medical conditions, was supposed to have left for a medical appointment. It is unclear if the man experienced a medical episode, however, it’s possible the cold weather may have contributed to his death, Salazar told KSAT. San Antonio has stayed below freezing temperatures during the winter storm that has brought freezing rain, snow and ice since the weekend. The bitter cold will continue in San Antonio and a chance of freezing rain will return on Tuesday night.

A family member told KSAT the family who lived at the home are staying with a relative.

The Bexar County Sheriff's office has not released any information on the identify of the victim and the crash is still under investigation. Westbound I-10 in the area of Fair Oaks Parkway has since reopened in Northwest Bexar County.
