When the Our Lady of the Lake University softball team started the 2024-2025 season, they knew there were big shoes to fill after seeing over 10 players leave due to graduation or transferring to other programs.

Nearly a month after Our Lady of the Lake University told students it would be cutting some degree programs, the school still refuses to say exactly which programs or how many faculty and students would be affected.

San Antonio College will have its commencement in person at 11 a.m. on May 8 at the San Antonio College campus. University of the Incarnate WordGraduates will be honored with in-person, outdoor graduation ceremonies on May 7-8 at Benson Stadium.

Many college students in the San Antonio area have decided to attend classes on campus. About a month into the fall semester, school officials say they’re keeping a close eye on the situation to make sure the COVID-19 numbers stay as low as possible. “(We) have people take their own temperature at home before they attempt to come to campus, whether they are faculty, staff or students. At St. Mary’s University, students and staff members must also electronically complete a health check and report any confirmed cases, which are then reflected on the school’s site. Since the beginning of the semester at St. Mary’s University, there have been 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with five still active between faculty and students.
