BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 64-year-old child sex assault suspect who was hospitalized Wednesday night after a deputy-involved shooting on the Northeast Side was identified. Randy Fay Stokes is charged with aggravated sexual assault with a child and aggravated assault of a public servant. BCSO said the Fugitive Apprehension Unit was looking for Stokes on a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Officials say Stokes’ injuries were not serious. The deputy who shot at the suspect will be placed on administrative leave and then administrative duty pending the results of the investigation.

SAN ANTONIO – A 34-year-old man is dead after being shot by officers during a confrontation following a theft of a vehicle and major crash on the South Side, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said. When the San Antonio Police Department helicopter located the vehicle, officers saw the man stealing parts from it. The police helicopter followed the man, who then sped up and crashed at Theo Avenue and Flores Street, according to police. The man made his way down Theo Avenue and was then confronted by four police officers while he held a handgun, McManus said. When the man tried to switch hands with the gun, all four officers fired at him, McManus said.
