The Alamo Bowl has been denied an attempt to be able to select either the Texas Longhorns or the Oklahoma Sooners for its bowl games in 2024 and 2025 as they begin play in the Southeastern Conference, according to a report from the Action Network.

Young led the Longhorns to the 2005 season national championship with a last-minute touchdown against USC. Terms of Young's job and salary in the athletic department were not immediately disclosed. AdFormer Texas Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell is also a longtime special assistant in athletics.

Longhorns guard Matt Coleman, who sat out most of the second half, fouled out when he sent Reaves to the line for the decisive free throws. Texas got back within one when Andrew Jones made two free throws seconds later. “We'll have to work on missing free throws, I guess," Kruger said. Before his late free throws, Reaves had a key three-point play with a drive and layup that drew a fifth foul on Texas forward Greg Brown. So I guess it was a good shot,” Reaves said.
