Arson investigators were called to a home east of downtown San Antonio on Thursday morning after the flames were deemed suspicious.

An early-morning kitchen fire damaged an East Side home early Thursday morning, the San Antonio Fire Department said.

SAN ANTONIO A man asleep in his bed was struck by a stray bullet after three men fired multiple gunshots into several East Side homes, San Antonio police said. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. in the 400 block of Olive Street, not far from East Commerce Street. According to police, three men stood at the corner of Olive Street and Dakota Street with handguns and a rife and fired several times into multiple homes. Police said the intended target was one of the homes hit, but no one was there at the time. A man next door, however, was struck by a stray bullet in the ankle, police said.
