San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said there are safer ways to help the homeless. Over the weekend, however, one driver had a tough lesson.

“Panhandling. It’s OK to say NO,” state the signs on Wurzbach Road, Huebner Road, De Zavala Road, and La Cantera Parkway. The signs feature a crossed-out image of money changing hands over a plea to donate to local charities instead.

New anti-panhandling signs are showing up on the Northwest Side to deter drivers from the practice.
