The City of San Antonio, Bexar County and the Spurs signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday, taking an important step toward a new Spurs arena and a sports and entertainment district downtown, according to a press release.

San Antonio’s Saturday night road game against the Los Angeles Lakers has been postponed.

The San Antonio Spurs have announced plans to celebrate the grand opening of Frost Plaza at The Rock at La Cantera.

Spurs Sports and Entertainment publicly unveiled plans today for a new nearly 50-acre development on the far Northwest Side that includes a state-of-the-art training facility for the San Antonio Spurs, medical and research offices, retail, park and community space.

The current COVID-19 trends are similar to the summer surge in San Antonio when reopening phases had to be paused due to the virus’ spread across the state of Texas. Despite dealing with a similar surge in Houston, the Rockets are allowing fans into the Toyota Center on a limited basis. The Spurs news release did not reveal when the team planned to starts allowing fans back in the stadium.

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County leaders officially announced Wednesday that the AT&T Center will serve as a voting site during the upcoming election cycle, including early voting days from Oct. 13-30 and Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3. This will be the first time the AT&T Center has been utilized for voting in a general election. That coupled with the pandemic, we’ve never had a general election or a significant election in a COVID-19 environment.”Rodriguez said last week there would be no shortage of personal protective equipment inside the arena for voters and election workers. The AT&T Center was one of four proposed mega voting sites in Bexar County. With the AT&T Center and Spurs officially on board, Rodriguez has said the county hopes to reach more underserved communities.

SAN ANTONIO Spurs Sports and Entertainment, the parent organization of the San Antonio Spurs, announced a round of staff reductions on Wednesday amid the COVID-19 pandemic. SS&E CEO RC Buford released the following statement in regard to the layoffs. While we all understand the tremendous impact COVID-19 has had on our economy, staff reductions are devastating, regardless of the circumstances. Spurs Sports and Entertainment operates and owns the Spurs (NBA), Austin Spurs (NBA Development League), San Antonio FC (USL), and also manages the day-to-day operations of the AT&T Center. The Spurs have not played at the AT&T Center since early March and all concerts and events in the arena scheduled for upcoming months have been canceled or postponed.
