The event, titled āBold Action for Equity and Workforce Solutions,ā is local nonprofit Restore Educationās second-annual policy forum. AdThis year, more than 60 people have graduated with high school diplomas or workforce certificates through Restore Education. According to their website, Restore Education āguides underserved San Antonians, aged 16 and up, to improve their lives through innovative education and career solutions.

Restore Education is a non-profit organization and is one of many partnering with the city to make re-entering the workforce during the pandemic a reality. On Saturday, the organization held a drive-thru graduation for those getting their GED, and for those who participated in their career training program. AdāLike administrative assistant or certified nurseās program to IT training,ā Rhodes said. āNot to mention the pandemic but pursuing their education during this time to support their families, they have overcome some major obstacles,ā Rhodes said.

You know what to expect because like I said, this is a whole new line of work for me,ā she said. She started exploring her options at Restore Education and the COVID-19 Workforce Recovery Program she said was a godsend. AdBexar County also has a similar program and applicants receive a stipend while they train. A total of 3,000 or so signed up, and about half of those are in training program.

Restore Education offers help with:High school equivalency tests (GED test). The answer is, 'No, you're not too old to come, and you're never too old to go for your educational dreams.' I've seen students come to us in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and they are now in college. The new facility has a medical training center equipped with a life-sized mannequin and other tools for hands on learning.
