SAN ANTONIO – A large crowd of people gathered around the Alamo to witness the “Dawn at the Alamo” Tricentennial event. The commemorative ceremony began at 6 a.m. to honor and remember both armies who made their sacrifice 182 years ago. This is a developing story. SAN ANTONIO – Erhard Guenther, youngest son of Pioneer Flour Mill founder CH Guenther, was president of the company during the depression years. Because the Guenther family had not overextended the company during their expansion in the 20s, they were able to stay strong when the Great Depression hit San Antonio with full force in 1931.
