Equipment that kept the plant compliant with federal Clean Air Act standards failed due to the freezing temperatures in San Antonio, requiring the older of the two units at Spruce Coal Plant to stop burning coal while the state was experiencing massive blackouts. During the worst of the outage, the older unit was able to produce limited capacity by burning natural gas, CPS CEO Paula Gold-Williams said at a press conference Tuesday. A subsidiary of PNC Bank has repossessed the private jet plane formerly belonging to San Antonio lawyer Martin Phipps for failure to make payments on the loan that financed it, according to federal court documents. PNC Equipment Finance LLC sued Phipps and his former firm, Phipps Anderson Deacon LLP, in August 2020 alleging that the attorney had defaulted on $1.7 million of a loan for a Gulfstream GIV-SP. Co-founder Sean Greenberg said on Monday that the popular wings chain with flavor favorites like Spicy Lemon Pepper, Jamango Jerk and the garlic-heavy Vampire Killer plans to open a third San Antonio location at 92 NE Interstate 410. The location will take over an old Logan’s Roadhouse just east of North Star Mall and south of the San Antonio International Airport. Santikos Entertainment has obtained a $50 million loan that puts the Alamo City-based owner of several movie theaters on firmer financial footing as the COVID-19 pandemic drags on. The loan — facilitated by The Bank of San Antonio through the Federal Reserve Bank’s Main Street Lending Program — will be used to pay off an existing private banking loan whose terms had become burdensome. Without the new loan, Santikos would have been forced to maximize its debt against other assets to maintain operations, CEO Tim Handren said.
