SAN ANTONIO – Guests staying at the Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk have been asked to vacate the facility due to a lack of running water and sanitation concerns. KSAT received emails from guests saying the hotel was forcing everyone to leave by 1 p.m. on Wednesday. KSAT contacted the hotel and a staff member confirmed the hotel had been mandated by its corporate office to close because there was no running water in the building or proper sanitation measures. They added the hotel had also run out of food, but did have power in the building. The closest nearby hotel, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Riverwalk location, was not experiencing power or water issues, but was at guest capacity.

SAN ANTONIO – If you’ve taken a stroll down the famous San Antonio Riverwalk you may have noticed a little more sparkle. The holiday lights along the Riverwalk has attracted visitors for decades. Maggie Thompson, Executive Director with the San Antonio Riverwalk Association said they’re hoping to shed some light following a dark year. She hopes the lights will give people a sense of joy that usually comes with the holidays. The lights will stay up through Valentines Day.

SAN ANTONIO – A popular outdoorsman who has over 2 million subscribers on YouTube was stopped by San Antonio police while diving for what he calls “urban treasure” in the River Walk portion of the San Antonio River. In a police report obtained by KSAT, Jordan was stopped at 11:52 a.m. on Oct. 19 by San Antonio police for violating a city ordinance: Swimming in San Antonio River, which is a misdemeanor offense and can be punished by a fine of up to $500. Jordan was cited by Park Police for swimming in the San Antonio River, which is prohibited by City ordinance Sec. “The safety of all visitors is of utmost importance to the City of San Antonio, especially as this is an active and historic waterway.”Maggie Thomspon, a spokeswoman for the San Antonio River Walk, said the city does not allow people to go into the river because of traffic from city maintenance boats and Go Rio tour boats. SAN ANTONIO – A popular San Antonio attraction was the target of vandalism. Parts of the San Antonio Riverwalk were graffitied and some feel it sends the wrong message about the Alamo City. “I think San Antonio is a beautiful city, but I guess that’s my opinion. Antonio Richardson is a San Antonio native. “I wish people would find a different kind of outlet to be creative, just not on our beautiful riverwalk," she said.
