The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has changed its process for accepting outside resources at scenes after footage captured by KSAT showed a convicted sex offender standing with deputies in a city park as authorities searched for a missing mother and her son this spring.

Circle of Arms executive director Larissa Martinez said there is a growing push to prioritize conversations about mental health after the Bexar County Medical Examiner confirmed a young mother died by suicide this week.

Savannah Kriger, 32, shot son, Kaiden, then herself.

Kaiden Kriger’s death has been ruled a homicide, while the manner of Savannah Kriger’s death is still pending.

“I don’t see her doing this to her son. I just keep wanting answers,” said the mother of Savannah Kriger.

Savannah Kriger, 32, is suspected of shooting her three-year-old son, Kaiden, and herself. Both were found dead Tuesday in a ditch near Tom Slick Park.

A woman who was found dead, along with her 3-year-old son, was involved in a child custody battle over the child, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
