Forensic scientists are getting hands-on with guns and bullets inside the firearms section at the Bexar County Crime Lab.

“The Asian giant hornet is not supposed to be here." Initial findings indicate the hornets found in the U.S. were linked to hornets in South Korea, while those in British Columbia were linked to hornets found in Japan, Spichiger said. Asian giant hornets, an invasive pest not native to the U.S., are the world’s largest hornet and a predator of honey bees and other insects. A small group of Asian giant hornets can kill an entire honey bee hive in a matter of hours. Asian giant hornets can deliver painful stings to people and spit venom.

SAN ANTONIO – Local scientists are taking matters into their own hands to protect the hands of workers in their medical system. Two labs at UT Health San Antonio are now dedicated to solely making hand sanitizer for the UT Health providers. The sanitizer meets all World Health Organization guidelines, using high-purity alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, glycerol and water. The sanitizer is specifically for frontline workers and is being distributed to UT Health SA offices across the area.
