The events were organized by Senior Planet, a nonprofit that helps older adults bridge the digital divide, and the Latino Collection and Resource Center at the San Antonio Public Library. DeAnne Cuellar, state director of Older Adults Technology Services, said since the information was posted on the Senior Planet website, the response has been overwhelming. “Lots of curiosity from people outside of San Antonio,” Cuellar said. Lawrence Lucido, a member of Senior Planet, said he’s among many others who are excited about the program. “We as the whole country are experiencing a collective loss right now.”Cuellar said the free sessions can be viewed by anyone on the Senior Planet website and on its Facebook page.

Senior Planet, a nonprofit group in San Antonio, is the nation’s most effective program for transforming the lives of older adults through a powerful combination of technology, in-person training, online tools, and community-building spaces and events. Over the past 15 years, Senior Planet programming has improved the lives of more than 35,000 seniors at over 100 sites located in rural and urban communities. Digital Inclusion Week at Senior Planet aims to raise awareness of solutions addressing home internet access, personal devices, and local technology training and support programs. Aging Connected has an ambitious goal of helping one million older adults connect to the Internet and thrive online. OATS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults with a mission to harness technology to change the way we age.

SAN ANTONIO Seniors these days are doing more online than just checking on the grandkids. Many more are now aware of both the benefits and risks of doing their financial transactions online, said DeAnne Cuellar, state director of Older Adults Technology Services. "So much so, we created a coronavirus resource page just for financial security," Cuellar said. Senior Planet reports it has seen increased interest, possibly due to the ongoing U.S. "Technology doesn't know how old you are," Cuellar said, pointing out users of all ages have varying concerns about online security.
