Taryn Armitage, 27, was charged with official oppression last fall, nearly two years after investigators said he assaulted a Bexar County Jail inmate. Ex-jailer arrested after attending fallen deputys funeralArmitages arrest became more notable after BCSO officials revealed last October that he was taken into custody after attending the funeral of a fellow deputy who had died of cancer. Armitage resigned from the sheriffs office while under investigation last August. Sheriff Javier Salazar said during a Zoom press conference Tuesday afternoon that he had no intention of hiring back Armitage.

Aside from saying it is investigating, the Bexar County Sheriffs Office would not provide any details Tuesday. It was extremely concerning, Eliza Reyes, said referring to the Facebook post she reported to authorities yesterday. Reyes sent the post to the sheriffs office, which says its investigating. This incident comes just weeks after a BCSO deputy was put on administrative leave pending the investigation into a separate Facebook post.
