COMAL COUNTY, Texas โ Comal Countyโs COVID-19 vaccine standby list is now open, and the county is encouraging seniors to register to get on the list. If you are 65 or older, you can sign up to get the vaccine in the state of Texas. The total in Comal County is 30,200. If you fall under that phase, you can begin to sign up on the standby list on March 15. According to officials, signing up for the standby list does not guarantee youโll get a spot for the vaccine.

Comal County opts in to reopen bars
Comal County Judge Sherman Krause has decided to opt in to allow bars in the county to reopen, a news release said Monday. County judges must approve the decision to reopen bars. Comal County officials consulted with health officials, mayors, TABC and law enforcement to develop a strategy to reopen bars and similar establishments. The strategy included the development of an Open Safe Plan that bar owners are asked to complete and submit to the county for approval. Comal Countyโs Open Safe Plan can be viewed below:

Comal County reports 8th COVID-19 death, issues order requiring face coverings for businesses amid virus surge
NEW BRAUNFELS On Wednesday Comal County officials announced an eighth death related to COVID-19, the highest one-day case total yet and the countys highest positivity rate. County officials say a man in his 70s died over the weekend. County officials say thats up from 10.28% on Tuesday and 8.65% one week ago. Its now the highest positivity rate recorded in Comal County since the start of the pandemic. Comal County residents who want to be tested for COVID-19 can call the countys dedicated hotline, 830-221-1120, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
