Still, White returned to the classroom, but his son stayed home, learning virtually until COVID-19 testing started. The non-profit organization Community Labs began conducting mass testing for COVID-19 at Somerset ISD in September. Somerset ISD Superintendent Saul Hinojosa said when they first started testing, about 39% of students were learning in-person, and now it’s about 70%. Hinojosa said Community Labs will be testing at Somerset ISD until the end of the school year.

On Monday evening, the Somerset School District Board of Trustees met to name Koy Detmer as the new head football coach. Koy is the son of longtime high school football coaching legend Sonny Detmer, who passed away last September. Koy played quarterback for his father at Mission High School and served as head coach of the Eagles for the past five seasons. He played eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and had a brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings.

His senior year, the running back rushed for over 1800 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hernandez played in the San Antonio All-American Bowl, where he had seven carries for 107 yards and a score.
