Marion’s city council ran into new dilemmas over the last year as internal mistakes led to the city missing an election and multiple people leaving their positions, including the mayor. Now, residents have the chance to elect new council members.

During the first week of July, two City of Marion officials tendered their resignations. The former mayor, Daniel H. Loyola, resigned on Monday. The city’s former secretary, Suzanne Gonzales, resigned on Tuesday.
