Since 2023, we have worked diligently to reach new audiences in Texas, increase trust in our work and expand into local news. At the end of this year, with a strong leadership team in place, I will be transitioning.

The Trust Project’s eight Trust Indicators are the first major global transparency standard for news. They include honesty, accuracy and fairness; owning up to mistakes; disclosure of our funding; and details on our journalists’ expertise.

Fellows play key roles in the most important work of the Tribune, helping with The Texas Tribune Festival and covering the biennial legislative sessions, education and the environment, among other important topics.

We were recognized for breaking news coverage of the Uvalde school shooting and for overall excellence among large digital news organizations.

Our first slate of this year’s big-name speakers is out, and we’ll have plenty to talk about with them at this year’s event.

Adams will oversee audience growth and engagement. Keemahill is a data journalist working on investigative stories. Nogueras will be our first Permian Basin reporter, based in Midland-Odessa.

We’re hiring reporters to cover the Panhandle/South Plains and East Texas, along with a regional editor. We hope to also place staff in the Rio Grande Valley and the Permian Basin.

Fabiana Chaparro will join the multimedia team, and Caroline Covington will join the data visuals team.

RevLab at The Texas Tribune is partnering with LION Publishers and the News Revenue Hub to host the first Independent News Sustainability Summit from Oct. 27-29 in Austin.

A dogged accountability journalist, Despart will help center our political coverage on ordinary Texans and expose failures of governance and abuses of power.

A beloved reporter and columnist who knows more about Texas politics than just about anyone alive, he’s been instrumental to the Tribune’s operations and evolution. No him, no us. Our success is his legacy.

This survey will help us better serve and understand our readers across Texas and beyond.

She moves from the Tribune’s editorial team to our audience team, where she will take charge of our flagship email newsletter, The Brief.

One of Texas’ most respected news leaders, Andy will be involved in all decisions involving hiring, advancement and compensation, and also oversee our fellowships program and our source diversity project.

I feel luckier each day to have had the chance to launch and lead this amazing org. I believe in public interest journalism more than ever. But it’s time to hand off the reins.
