VIA and the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner are partnering together to provide free rides to event attendees.

H-E-B will host its annual Feast of Sharing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 23 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center located at 99 East Market Street.

The funding will help VIA continue to provide vitally important transportation services with disabilities while maintaining VIA’s commitment to environmentally-conscious mobility in the region.

VIA Metropolitan Transit will provide fare-free rides to residents who need access to a warming center in San Antonio, beginning Thursday.

A VIAtrans driver dropped off passengers with disabilities at a closed business, instructing them to wait outside in the heat. A witness stepped in to help, and VIA is now apologizing.

VIA Metropolitan Transit buses and vans will return to full capacity beginning June 1. The change will apply to fixed-route buses, VIAtrans vans, and VIA Link vehicles.

VIA Metropolitan Transit continues to offer free transportation for anyone traveling to or from an appointment at a city or county-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination site, including the Alamodome and the Wonderland of the Americas mall.

SAN ANTONIO – VIA Metropolitan Transit bus routes will follow a Sunday schedule on Monday through Wednesday, due to the worsening winter weather conditions in the San Antonio region. All VIA transit services will not be operating, beginning at 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, through 12 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15. This is during the most severe part of the winter weather. However, all service modes are being effected by the hazardous winter weather, according to VIA officials. Starting on Monday, VIA Metropolitan Transit will offer complimentary transportation for any person traveling to or from an appointment at a city/county-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination site. This includes regular bus service, VIA Link, and VIAtrans paratransit service. SAN ANTONIO – VIA will move to a Saturday schedule for weekdays and extend fare relief amid the spread of the novel coronavirus. “Only essential trips, outlined in the 'Stay Home, Work Safe’ order should be made during this time,” VIA said in a news release. In an effort to promote social distancing, some seats on buses and vans may be removed or closed off. VIA previously said buses, seats and rails will be cleaned at a higher frequency. COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new virus, stands for coronavirus disease 2019.

VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering free bus and van rides on the March 3 Primary Election Day. Passengers just need to show a valid voter registration card to the bus or van operator to ride. Bus passengers can plan their trip to vote through the VIA goMobile app. VIAtrans customers need to be registered and must schedule their trip in advance by phone or online.

SAN ANTONIO – VIA Park and Ride will be offering special fares for Fiesta-goers. VIA bus passes will not be valid for the special service. The following fares are $2.50 each way, with discounted fares for children, seniors, students and active-duty member for the military.
