According to Chris Ramos, a spokesman with the San Antonio Police Department, a woman reported her car stolen Monday night after leaving the vehicle running. She saw that the vehicle was being offered for sale online and decided to meet Thursday morning with the people selling her car, Ramos said. At some point, the man demanded the car back, and that’s when he and the boy exchanged gunfire, a preliminary police report said. The two teens and the man ran into the store where the girl and the man were apprehended without incident. A witness told officers that he saw the boy leave the gun in the rear of the store, where it was located.

SAN ANTONIO – Nearly a year after the coronavirus pandemic shuttered movie theaters across Texas, one San Antonio cinema will not make a return. Regal Fiesta 16 Cinema on Vance Jackson Road has permanently closed, according to Weingarten Realty, which owns the Fiesta Trails Shopping Center. Gerald Crump, the senior vice president and the director of the central region at the Houston-based firm, said the cinema has fully vacated from the property. Fiesta 16 was located just north of another Regal property, Regal Huebner Oaks, which remains closed along with the chain’s four other sites in San Antonio. That includes Regal Alamo Quarry, Regal Cielo Vista near Ingram Road, Regal Northwoods on Henderson Pass, and Regal Live Oak.

CASTLE HILLS, Texas – A 17-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly leading Castle Hills police on a chase that a witness says reached speeds of up to about 100 miles per hour. The car, which was carrying the teen driver and a 27-year-old woman, came to a sudden stop when it crashed into another vehicle head-on near Greenhaven Drive. They took the teen driver and his passenger, a woman who he told officers he had just met and picked up, into custody. Police say the 17-year-old had refused to stop for officers somewhere in the area of West Avenue in Castle Hills. They said he sped away and led them on a chase, crossing into the San Antonio city limits.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for roughly 10 people following a shooting throughout a Northwest Side apartment complex that wounded two others. A resident at the apartments said she heard several rounds of gunfire and people yelling and running near apartments six and seven. “The whole apartment complex is a crime scene,” a police sergeant said. The two wounded men, ages 21 and 23, were taken to an area hospital. Detectives found a bullet inside one apartment where no one was injured.

The incident occurred June 6 around 9 p.m. in the 4600 block of Vance Jackson Road, not far from Jackson Keller Road and Loop 410. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Tuesday morning marked the groundbreaking for Rise Recoverys Charlie Naylor Campus by Interstate 410 and Vance Jackson Road. The facility is expected to be open summer 2021, and it will be dedicated to helping teens and young adults recovering from addiction.
