The 55-acre site at West Avenue and Wurzbach Parkway west of U.S. 281 has been a vacant lot for decades. 45-year-old man shot at North Side home uncooperative with police, SAPD says
SAN ANTONIO – A 45-year-old man is in the hospital after he was shot inside a home in a North Side neighborhood on Wednesday, according to San Antonio police. Officers were called around 7 a.m. the scene in the 11300 block of Baltic Drive, not far from Lockhill Sema Road and West Avenue. The man was found shot in the lower abdominal area and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time. A 10-year-old child was asleep upstairs at the time of the shooting, but was not injured. The man who was shot was not cooperating with police, police said.
Fire breaks out at auto repair business on North Side
SAN ANTONIO At least one vehicle was damaged during a fire at an auto repair business on the North Side Monday night. San Antonio firefighters responded to the blaze just before 10 p.m. in the 11800 block of West Avenue. Fire officials said firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the fire after forcing an entry. Flames were contained to one vehicle inside one of the bays. SAFD, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS responded to the fire.
Quick response to auto shop fire may have prevented worse problems
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS A fire at a North Side car repair shop had the potential to become an explosive situation. It is located right across the street from a fire station so firefighters were able to arrive almost immediately. Theres a lot of water and smoke right now, Urbina said. Urbina said most of the equipment inside the shop was spared from any damage. In the meantime, Urbina said, customers are welcome to call or visit the shop location in person to check on their vehicles.

Police said Rosalva Tamez, 61, was killed when another vehicle crashed into hers just before 5 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Avenue, sending her car into the telephone pole. ---(Original Story)A woman in her 60s is dead after crashing into a telephone pole after her car was hit by a vehicle that witnesses reported seeing driving erratically, police said. Police said the woman was driving out of an apartment complex in the 3500 block of West Avenue around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday. The other vehicle collided with the woman’s car, sending her crashing toward a telephone pole, police said.
