In less than two weeks, Wurstfest will celebrate its 60th year. But this time the celebration of sausage is going to look a little different.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Just because Wurstfest is canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate. One of Wurstfest’s most celebrated entertainers, Alex Meixner, is going to be performing at Krause’s Biergarten & Cafe in New Braunfels Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. VIP tables will be located under the pavilion and include two German food platters and a meet and greet with Alex Meixner. This will be first come first seated and subject to how many tables are sold,” said Krause’s Cafe officials. Krause’s Cafe is located at 148 S Castell Avenue in New Braunfels.

Floresville Another event has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 76th Annual Peanut Festival has been moved from October to March 25 - 27. Our goal is to provide the same safe family-friendly festival experience to our community and visitors near and far, the announcement read. Other big events canceled this year due to COVID-19 includes the Poteet Strawberry Festival, Wurstfest, Fiesta, State Fair of Texas and Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg.

DALLAS You know that old adage dont mess with Texas? Well, this time it applies to our famous state fair food. For the first time in the 134-year history of the State Fair of Texas - instead of a fair theres going to be a drive-thru food event. The coronavirus pandemic has put a kibosh on tons of events this year, like Fiesta and Wurstfest just to name a few, but in lieu of the annual 24-day exhibition, the State Fair of Texas is hosting a one-of-a-kind drive-thru experience. The drive-thru is expected to take 90 minutes once you enter the gate at Fair Park in Dallas. Fletchers corny dog, a State Fair favorite, will be on the menu at all Golden Chick restaurants through October 25.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – When New Braunfels Little League President Paul Naizer heard Wurstfest would be canceled for 2020 over concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, he understood. With more than 200,000 attendees that come through over 10 days, the groups can raise much - even all - of the money they need to operate for the year. “But not knowing what’s going on with this pandemic, it’s really hard to see how we’re going to make money. Brit King, president of the Downtown Rotary Club of New Braunfels, said Wurstfest isn’t the biggest of its four fundraisers. The Wurstfest Association has said that fundraising plans to support the nonprofit organizations that normally work Wurstfest would be announced in the coming weeks.
