The City of San Antonio and the Texas Department of Transportation are asking the public to weigh in on a project to fix a traffic trouble spot with the construction of a bridge on the South Side near the train tracks by South Zarzamora and Frio City Road.

SAN ANTONIO A San Antonio homeowner has filed an application with the Office of Historic Preservation to designate 498 parcels of a historic West Side neighborhood to be part of the proposed Buena Vista Historic District. The district would stretch east to west from Brazos to Zarzamora, and north to south from Buena Vista to Cesar Chavez. Three virtual public meetings will be held on Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. , Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. and Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. to discuss the proposed historic district. Benefits for owner-occupied homes included in the boundary include 20% off city taxes for 10 years and the opportunity to extend the incentive for five years after.

San Antonio police have identified a man killed after he crashed into a wall divider on Highway 90. Ruben Alejandro Cisneros, 24, died in the crash around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Highway 90 W, according to police. Police say Cisneros was driving eastbound and struck the wall divider between the main lanes and the exit to Zarzamora Street. He hit the wall head-on and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. SAN ANTONIO – A friend of a man who was injured in a hit-and-run crash on the South Side is hopeful that surveillance video will yield some clues about the driver who fled the scene. “They have cameras here and they work.”Several hours after the early Tuesday crash, Marroquin returned to the parking lot of an E-Z Wash laundry on West Southcross near Zarzamora, where the crash occurred. Marroquin said her friend, the injured man, initially wandered down the street to her home. Marroquin said he told her that he initially had exchanged words with a man who was doing his laundry at the E-Z Wash. At that time, he said that he had not yet viewed the surveillance video, but he did plan to make it available to investigators.
