Read full article: Zoos helping zoos in the wake of Hurricane LauraSan Antonio – Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo (AWSFZ) wasted no time jumping at the opportunity to help their fellow zoo in Alexandria, Louisiana that had suffered significant damage from Hurricane Laura. Dr. Eric Trager, Owner of Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo, described the scene they arrived to as “Devastating” with what seemed like 40-50 huge trees downed throughout the park. However, despite this destruction, the Alexandria Zoo no loss of life and is a major credit to their preparation. He visited Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo in October of 2018, where he spent 2 and a half minutes in a pit filled with North America’s largest venomous snake, the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Now, the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake is the one we find most in Texas. The Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, however, can reach 8 feet in length. What would it take for you to spend time in a pit filled with rattlesnakes?
