SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man who recovered from COVID-19 and was on a mission to help others suffering from the disease by donating plasma came to a stop when doctors told him he no longer had enough antibodies. “I had given plasma seven times the first go round, so after that they said, ‘You don’t have enough antibodies in your system any longer,’” Murphy said. While Murphy was no longer able to donate his plasma, he did continue to donate blood. While unusual, Dr. Samantha Gomez Ngamsuntikul, of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, explains why Murphy’s antibodies may have returned.
