Both businesses that were targeted have cell phones for sale, and had broken windows as a result of the crimes. A few minutes later, they had a similar call regarding a Spectrum store, located about five miles away in the 3100 block of SE Military. However, like the Cricket store, Spectrum also sells cell phones, according to a sign on its window. Police used their helicopter to search the neighborhoods near the stores but they did not find the burglars.

Retirement Center Management, which handles the property, said it is taking quick action to ensure its residents are safe both in independent and assisted living buildings. The police were called in each case and the incidents are subject to an ongoing police investigation. San Antonio police detectives with Property Crimes Unit are investigating the cases. “I’ve told them that they need to get rid of these antiquated wooden doors with cheap locks and aging frames,” Dankof said.
