The fire was called in just before 1 a.m. at the Gadi Food Mart in the 1300 block of Roosevelt Avenue, not far from Interstate 10. Firefighters said when they arrived, they found flames showing from the right corner of the store. A witness said someone might be in the building, but it was cleared by firefighters during a search. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call.

Firefighters were called just before 7 a.m. to a house in the 4800 block of Scott Carpenter Drive, according to an assistant chief with KFD at the scene. At first, firefighters were not sure where the fire was located until they found flames inside a converted garage, officials said. Everyone inside the home was able to exit and no one was injured. Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
