A Tennessee church has released a health update on its lead pastor who survived a plane crash in Yoakum on Tuesday.

A small plane crash in Texas has left four members of a Tennessee church dead and the lead pastor injured.

DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen is recovering after he was injured in a burn pit incident at home, according to the sheriff’s office.

DEWITT COUNTY, Texas – More than 1 million COVID-19 vaccines are expected to come to Texas, and communities are finalizing details on storage, who will be involved, and where the distribution sites will be placed. DeWitt County, which has a population of more than 20,000 people, is seeing the excitement build over the new vaccines. Many rural counties don’t have this resource, including Dewitt County. Smith said people should not contact the vaccine distribution locations that have registered at this time. She said DeWitt County will coordinate with each location and publish when the vaccine will be available to the public and any further information.

CUERO, Texas – DeWitt County announced 70 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 60 additional recoveries since its last report. A majority of these new cases were tested at the government-sponsored testing center in Yorktown earlier in July, the county said in an email statement. “Officials also report five additional deaths which brings the death toll to nineteen,” the county said in the statement. A total of 591 cases have been diagnosed in DeWitt County since Gov. “202 individuals, including the 70 newly confirmed cases, are isolating at home,” the county said in a statement.

LAVACA COUNTY, Texas Lavaca County announced Tuesday four new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the current total to 42 verified cases of the virus in the county. CUERO, Texas – On Aug. 12, DeWitt County officials confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 699 since March 13, officials said. Of the new cases, eight of the residents live in the Cuero ZIP code, one in the Yoakum ZIP code and two in the Yorktown ZIP code. Officials report one additional death, bringing the death toll in the county to 31. There are 102 active cases, with 96 residents quarantined at home and six at a medical facility. A total of 566 residents have recovered from the disease.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Comal County residents can be tested for COVID-19 for free on Thursday, April 30, at Canyon High School in New Braunfels. According to a Comal County ISD news release, drive-thru testing will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for anyone who makes an appointment beginning Tuesday morning. CUERO, Texas – DeWitt County will offer COVID-19 testing Saturday after being selected as a mobile testing location by the Texas Department of State Health Services. According to a news release, testing will be conducted by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cuero Municipal Library. The Cuero Fire Department was kept busy early Sunday morning with three unrelated fires that sparked within hours of each other, according to a news release from DeWitt County. The first fire was called in early Sunday morning at 1:50 a.m. in the 300 block of E. Sarah, according to the news release. At 6:40 a.m., some of the crew had to be reassigned after a trash dumpster fire was called in. That fire was believed to be intentionally set, and the suspect believed to be behind the arson was arrested by the Cuero Police Department, according to the news release. Then, at about 7:50 a.m., the Cuero Volunteer Fire Department was called to a car wreck with a possible entrapment.
