A 43-year-old man is in custody after San Antonio police say he left the scene of a fatal crash on the Northwest Side last month.

A man and his 9-year-old daughter were killed in an early-morning crash after their car collided with a tree in Beaumont, police said.

She did any and everything for her children.”That wisdom carried on to Julissa Bocanegra as she grew up. In 2019, Amanda Vega lost her husband and the father of her children, Roger Bocanegra, in a hit-and-run. “They took that really hard and was still hurting from that because it is still fresh,” Jessica Vega said.

SAN ANTONIO – A homeless man sleeping under a bridge was hit and killed by a vehicle late Thursday night, San Antonio police said. According to police, Christian Alexis Cazares, 24, was driving in the eastbound lanes of the access road when he jumped a curb and hit a homeless man sleeping under a bridge. The homeless man, however, was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call. The name of the man killed has not been released.

SAN ANTONIO – Texas Department of Public Safety troopers investigating a deadly crash on Highway 87 in Wilson County say it appears thick fog played a role in it. A 17-year-old girl was killed in the crash which happened shortly after 7 a.m. Friday. ADKINS, Texas – A 17-year-old girl pulling her truck out of the driveway was hit and killed by an oncoming car early Friday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of US Highway 87 near Oak Park Road. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the teen was trying to turn left onto eastbound Hwy 87 and was heading to La Vernia High School when she was hit by the westbound car. The eastbound lanes of Highway 87 were closed as emergency crews worked at the scene. The westbound lanes, however, remained open.

SAN ANTONIO – A second person has died following a high-speed vehicle crash on the city’s Northwest Side on Saturday night, San Antonio police said. According to police, Samantha Caballero, 12, died at University Hospital following a crash that happened around 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of De Zavala Road. A front passenger was taken to University Hospital with a broken right arm. The driver, front passenger and Caballero, who was the rear passenger of the Acura, were all transported to University Hospital, where Caballero later died. The westbound lanes of De Zavala were shut down for several hours as authorities processed the scene.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a man, identified by the medical examiner’s office on Friday as 54-year-old Tyrone Paul Bowie, tried to cross train tracks with a bicycle and was killed by a train. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. Thursday near North Pine Street and Duval Street, just east of downtown. According to police, a train was stopped near Pine Street as it was being doubled with another train. Investigators say Bowie was trying to cross the road by going underneath the train with his bicycle when the train suddenly began to move. Police said the train engineer was pulling the train forward when it went into emergency mode and came to a full stop.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police say a picture may not have been worth a thousand words, but it did provide clues about a deadly crash. An arrest affidavit said police identified Martinez as the man who was racing with another motorcyclist on SW Loop 410 near Palo Alto Road Monday night before they both lost control and crashed. The affidavit said police identified Martinez after he sent a photo to a friend which offered some clues. Police said after he ran from the scene, Martinez went to a hospital for treatment of his own injuries. The affidavit said he sent a selfie showing his injuries to the friend, who then showed the picture to police.

SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead following an 18-wheeler rollover crash that is apparently part of an overnight murder in Comal County, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred on Austin Street at Casa Blanca, not far from Interstate 35. According to police, the driver of the 18-wheeler took a turn from Casa Blanca onto Austin Street too fast, and rolled the big rig onto its side. Police said the 45-year-old man inside the big rig had a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. She said she called 911 along the way, and at one point saw the big rig broadside a FedEx truck and keep going.

NATALIA, Texas A Medina County woman is charged with manslaughter after police in Natalia say she hit and killed another woman with her vehicle. Brittnee Jones, 28, was fatally struck around 7 p.m in what police determined to be a domestic disturbance. According to police, officers arrived to find Jones deceased underneath a vehicle. Thats when police said, Rindon hit Jones with her vehicle and then ran over her. Rendon was taken into custody, booked into the Medina County Jail and has been charged with manslaughter.

SAN ANTONIO A pedestrian who was hit and killed by a driver in a pickup truck late Tuesday night has been identified. Pablo Paul Hernandez, 42, died of blunt force injuries sustained in the incident before 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Culebra Road, not far from North Zarzamora Street and Cincinnati Avenue. According to police, Hernandez was walking across Culebra Road in a crosswalk but was against the pedestrian signal when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound. The driver of the pickup truck continued eastbound and failed to stop and render aid, police said. Hernandez was taken to University Hospital by EMS, where he later died.

SAN ANTONIO A driver is dead following a vehicle crash on Loop 1604 on the citys Northeast Side early Wednesday morning, San Antonio police said. Officers were called around 2:30 a.m. to Loop 1604 near Green Mountain Road after witnesses said they saw a vehicle in a ditch. According to police, officers arrived to find the vehicle in a grassy median between the main lanes of Loop 1604 and the nearby access road. Investigators say witnesses told them that the vehicle had earlier rear-ended an 18-wheeler, but did not stop. One lane of eastbound Loop 1604 is presently closed as emergency crews work.

SAN MARCOS, Texas San Marcos police have identified a motorcyclist killed in a 2-vehicle crash early Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of Post Road, not far from Spring Road. According to police, Kolin Walker, 23, was traveling southbound on a black 2004 Suzuki motorcycle when a Volvo S40 pulled out from a parking lot of an apartment complex heading northbound. Police said Walker was traveling above the speed limit when the crash occurred. Authorities say Walkers death is the tenth traffic fatality in San Marcos in 2020.

SAN ANTONIO A 35-year-old man is dead following a shooting just east of downtown late Monday night, San Antonio police said. Officers were called around 9:15 p.m. to the 1800 block of Rogers Avenue, not far from Interstate 35 and North Walters Street after receiving reports of a family disturbance with gun. According to police, the family disturbance escalated and the man was shot three or four times in the upper chest. Officers answering the call were close by and took a 39-year-old suspect into custody. Investigators also found what they believe is the weapon that was used.

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio police reported Wednesday that one man is dead and another is currently in critical condition after a shooting occurred on the citys South Side. Police were called to the 900 block of Ripford, where they found two victims, both men in their 40s, and believe an argument over money escalated into a shooting. QUINLAN, Texas Authorities say a toddler was killed when attacked by a dog in North Texas. The 23-month-old child left an enclosed yard on Monday unnoticed by family members and walked a short distance along a gravel road before being attacked by the dog, or a pit bull or pit bull mix, said Hunt County Sheriffs Sgt. The child died at a hospital in after being found in the road by deputies responding to reports of a dog attack near Quinlan, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Dallas, Haines said. The dog is being held at an animal control shelter. No arrests have been made or charges filed pending completion of an investigation.

SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in West Bexar County early Wednesday morning, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash occurred just after 6 a.m. on Loop 1604, between Highway 143 and Pue Road. According to deputies, a pickup truck traveling northbound veered into the southbound lanes, hitting a Honda vehicle head-on. The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to roll over, deputies said. The driver of the pickup truck, also a man, had minor injuries.

SAN ANTONIO A 32-year-old man who died in a motorcycle crash on Monday has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiners Office. According to police, Redfern was riding a white and silver Victory motorcycle and did not follow a curve. He struck a curb, lost control of the bike and flew off of it. He struck a fire hydrant and landed in the grassy shoulder as his motorcycle kept going for roughly another 40 feet before finally stopping. MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A Texas deputy mistakenly shot and killed another responding officer early Friday while searching a home after a neighbor reported a suspicious person in the area, authorities said.
