Blessing bags were created and distributed to the homeless by a San Antonio 7-year-old. The bags are filled with different items including snacks, toiletries, socks and items specific to the season including a beanie and gloves. “It’s a poem by Ben Harper.”AdShe hopes her Blessing Bags encourage others to get involved with her mission or one close to their heart. Rajni Shankar-Brown has dedicated her life to changing how people and communities respond to the homeless. “Trying to build resources, ways that families can truly thrive and receive the support they need,” said Shankar-Brown. Shankar-Brown also envisions creating an interdisciplinary center for equity and social change at Stetson University that would address these issues and support children, schools, and communities in poverty.
