According to a news release, Munoz notified jail staff on Jan. 2 that he was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. The inmate was tested for COVID-19 and was quarantined pending test results. After receiving confirmation later that day of positive results for the virus, Munoz was relocated to the jail infirmary for medical observation and treatment for COVID-19. Munoz was taken to University Hospital on Wednesday after experiencing COVID-19 complications, the news release said.
