Starting on Jan. 7, more than 25 businesses from the Farmers Market Plaza will head to the Centro de Artes building at 101 S. Santa Rosa for three months. The pop-up mercado will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sundays. The Farmers Market Plaza Building will close on Jan. 2 and reopen sometime in the spring, according to the Center City Development and Operations Department. The rest of the shops and restaurants in Market Square will stay open during that time.

SAN ANTONIO – Market Square has reopened after several weeks of being closed due to the stay-home orders amid the coronavirus pandemic. Its modified hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. About 100 small family-owned businesses operate out of the Farmers Market building and El Mercado, officials said. Officials said tenants were encouraged to take a pledge to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Market Square will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays until further notice.

SAN ANTONIO – Some big changes are in store at Mi Tierra as staff members work to get the restaurant as clean as possible before reopening on Wednesday. Gerardo Carbajal, manager of Mi Tierra, said the building has been cleaned from top to bottom. "If you come to Mi Tierra, you see we're known for all the decorations and the culture that goes through the walls of Mi Tierra. Instead, customers will find a QR code, where they can access the menu through their smartphone. All these steps are to help protect customers in what the restaurant owners are calling the new normal.

SAN ANTONIO – More than 200 bands from the U.S. and Mexico will hit up San Antonio’s iconic Market Square for the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair in March. The lineup for the festival, set for March 12-15, was released Monday morning and includes local favorites like Shelly Lares and Ram Herrera. The free event, expected to bring in more than 150,000 fans, will run from noon-11 p.m. daily. Tejano singer Ram Herrera shares emotional message to fans from hospital bedHerrera, who has won numerous awards throughout his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tejano Music Association, said he was “going to pull through" and “be back to work soon.”The “Tejano music event of the year" is held annually before the Tejano Music Awards Show, which will mark 40 years in 2020. The awards show will take place in November, but the exact time and place have not been released.

SAN ANTONIO – National Margarita Day is a day for slow-sipping. To honor the chill holiday, La Familia Cortez, the family behind Mi Tierra, La Margarita and Pico de Gallo, is hosting a Margarita Y Musica 0.5K at Market Square on Saturday. The family is calling it a “fun-(not)-run,” and that’s because a short stroll will lead to five mini-margaritas from each La Familia Cortez restaurant. Where to grab a margarita in San Antonio on National Margarita DayTicket prices are $25 for one runner or $40 for two, and they can be purchased online. Packets, including a race map, can be picked up starting at 4 p.m. at La Margarita, 120 Produce Row.
