Officers and citizens gathered at the San Antonio Police Department’s Northeast Substation on Thursday to honor a good Samaritan who saved the life of an officer shot in the line of duty.

A San Antonio police officer is hospitalized with one gunshot wound and a suspect is in critical condition after being shot three times by the officer on the West Side, according to Chief William McManus.

Guard members and armored military vehicles were in downtown Louisville, and streets were blocked off with barricades, fences and large trucks.
