PLEASANTON, Texas – The Pleasanton Police Department announced this week that an investigation dubbed “Operation Crystal Cowboy” resulted in the arrests of 25 suspects. According to officials, on Feb 26, officers, Atascosa County sheriff’s deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety investigators and Homeland Security investigators began to execute arrest warrants. AdDuring the arrest roundup, police say, “multiple suspects” were found in possession of additional meth and heroin. As of 2 p.m., Friday, officials had arrested and booked a total of 25 suspects into the Atascosa County Jail. Officials say they are continuing to investigate and expect additional arrests in the case.

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said a man who led law enforcement officers on a chase in Atascosa and Bexar counties Tuesday morning before he was shot near an elementary school has been declared dead at a local hospital. Salazar said Santos has been declared dead but is on life support while his organs are being preserved for potential donation. But Santos suddenly got back in it and drove off and a chase ensued, Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said on Tuesday. As the pickup approached Interstate 37 and Highway 97, the driver shot at officers from the vehicle, Soward said. Moments later, the pickup truck went through some spikes that BCSO deputies had planted near Highway 181 and I-37 in hopes of disabling the vehicle.

SAN ANTONIO – A 46-year-old man led law enforcement officers on a chase in Atascosa and Bexar counties Tuesday morning before he was shot near an elementary school, officials said. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, said Deputy Johnny Garcia, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. As the pickup approached Interstate 37 and Highway 97, the driver shot at officers, Soward said. None of the law enforcement officers were injured. Allen will remain under lockdown for several more hours as law enforcement process the scene.

PLEASANTON – During the second week of the vaccine rollout in Texas, shipments are headed to pharmacies in smaller communities throughout the San Antonio area. The H-E-B Pharmacy 19 on McDonald St in Lytle will get 100 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Kings Medicine, on N. Bryant Street in Pleasanton will get 500 doses of the vaccine. “I am apprehensive of what’s in the vaccine,” Casanova said. Dozens of hospitals, urgent care clinics and H-E-B pharmacies in Bexar County are slated to receive 30,200 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week. Made by Moderna, the vaccine requires two doses like the already approved Pfizer vaccine. The Moderna vaccine was endorsed by a government advisory panel on Thursday in a 20-0 vote. Some rural areas that had been waiting for word on when they would receive shipments will be included in week 2, data shows. Last week, nearly 30,000 doses of the Pfizer-made vaccine were shipped to San Antonio-area hospitals and military bases.

PLEASANTON, Texas – A man is dead after an hours-long standoff with Pleasanton police overnight, according to officials. The incident began around 7 p.m. Saturday night and ended around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the Bonita Creek RV Park in Pleasanton. Upon arrival, police determined it was a domestic violence incident involving a husband and wife. The husband, Gregory Lee Stanford, 54, allegedly fired gunshots at his wife; however, she was not hit and no one else was shot, police said. Eventually, officers made entry into the mobile home and discovered Stanford had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

San Antonio – Medevac crews are staying busy transferring COVID-19 patients from rural hospitals to San Antonio-area hospitals. AirLIFE crews reports 72 transfers of known or suspected COVID-19 patients since March to San Antonio, Kerrville, Pleasanton and Uvalde bases. “I’d say probably about a third of our calls now are COVID-19 patients,” Ramirez said. “We typically see the sickest of the patients,” Ramirez said. None of the flight crews directly working with positive COVID-19 patients have contracted the virus.

PLEASANTON, Texas – A 48-year-old woman was shot and killed early Thursday in Pleasanton and police there said they’ve arrested her boyfriend for the crime. Pleasanton police were called to a home around 4:35 a.m. in the 700 block of East Adams for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found Aurora Angelina Martinez dead, police officials said. The woman’s boyfriend and the suspect in the shooting, Fausto Rangel Rodriguez, 64 was at the scene and was arrested. Pleasanton Police Chief Ronald Sanchez said the shooting “stemmed from a domestic dispute.”Rodriguez was charged with murder and is being held in the Atascosa County Jail.

PLEASANTON Another South Texas football programs fall camp has been impacted by the coronavirus. Pleasanton Athletic Director Tab Dumont announced that the school district was forced to shut down football practices after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19. The cancellation comes only eight days after the Eagles began official preparations for the start of their 2020 high school football season. POTEET, Texas – A 37-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading several law enforcement agencies on a chase through Atascosa County, Sheriff David Soward said. Poteet police terminated the pursuit, but about 30 minutes later, an Atascosa County sheriff’s deputy saw Rodriguez’s vehicle speeding in Jourdanton, Soward said. Rodriguez led troopers back to Jourdanton, Pleasanton and then towards Poteet on FM 476. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail on charges of evading arrest and reckless driving.

PLEASANTON, Texas – A pistol stolen in San Antonio was found in Pleasonton among several seized weapons and drugs following a chase, police said. A shotgun that was stolen in Pleasanton was also found. Pleasanton police said they found the weapons and drugs during a traffic stop that turned into a chase. Officers said the suspects tried getting rid of an AR-15 by throwing it out of their vehicle during the chase. Police said methamphetamine, marijuana and an assortment of pills were seized.

A vehicle pursuit in Pleasanton led to the discovery of stolen guns and a variety of drugs in a car. Pleasanton police arrested April Segura, 35, Miguel Rangel 25, and Jessica Aguilar, 40, after the pursuit Tuesday, according to the department. Officers later found a stolen shotgun, a stolen semi-automatic pistol, methamphetamine, marijuana and assorted pills in the car, according to police. (ksat)The shotgun was stolen from a vehicle in Pleasanton, and the pistol was stolen in San Antonio. The trio was arrested on a combined 16 charges, including drug and stolen property charges.

A woman accused of passing counterfeit $50 bills at a Pleasanton Walgreens was arrested after authorities found more $7,800 of counterfeit cash in her home. Jenny Guerrero, 42, was recently arrested by Pleasanton police, who began investigating the case on Oct. 25. Arson investigators: Man who torched car at gas station suffered burnsPolice worked with United States Secret Service agents to obtain a search warrant for her home. Inside, they found the counterfeit cash and numerous devices, like computers and printers. Guerrero was taken to Atascosa County Jail, according to police.

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of leading a chaotic pursuit in a Miller Lite 18-wheeler near Pleasanton last year has pleaded guilty. Judson ISD school bus rear-ends car in Converse; no one hurtReyes then approached the newly purchased Miller Lite truck, whose driver was delivering beer in the store, and stole the vehicle, according to the DA’s office. He led a chase for several miles, according to the DA’s office, and drove “all over the road, sometimes in the oncoming lanes of traffic” while the back door of the trailer was open. Reyes eventually crashed and jack-knifed the truck, totaling it. Reyes, who assaulted an Atascosa Sheriff’s Office deputy while he was being arrested, had previously been imprisoned for family violence, possession and tampering with evidence, according to the DA’s office.

PLEASANTON, Texas – Two officials of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Pleasanton were arrested Wednesday after police accused them of embezzling $10,000 from the organization. Steve Mueller, 45, and Stephanie Pino, 50, were both charged with misapplication of fiduciary funds, a state jail felony. Mueller served as the post commander, while Pino served as a post adjutant and quartermaster, according to a news release from the police department. Police began their investigation in March, when another VFW official discovered that $10,000 was "misused," according to the news release. After months of investigation and speaking to witnesses, police obtained arrest warrants for the duo and brought them into custody.
