According to a police advisory, the victim was standing outside his residence when Guerra Garcia drove up and shot the victim, resulting in a severe life-altering injury. Guerra Garcia fled the scene in a gray 2009 Saturn Vue SUV with Texas license plate BT2X152.

According to police, two men were working together when they got into a heated argument about money being owed. The victim was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition, where he is expected to recover. A man and a woman were taken to Southwest General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are still working to determine if excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
