With six weeks remaining in the legislative session, advocates implored Texans to join the “resistance” against fast-moving efforts to curb health care, drag queens, education, trans athletes and more.

Texans on both sides of the abortion debate marched, rallied and chanted after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Several demonstrators who participated in the protests in response to George Floyd’s murder were seriously injured when they were struck by police with “less than lethal” beanbag rounds. The officers’ suit says they did not receive training on how to use this type of ammunition.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) has barricaded himself in a building on Capitol Hill with another congressman while Trump-supporting demonstrators storm the U.S. Capitol. Castro spoke with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday afternoon while barricaded in his office with U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Illinois) after his fellow congressman was evacuated from another office. “People have now entered the Capitol without any kind of screening at all, and so it’s a very tense situation for everybody inside,” Castro said. President Trump supporters are protesting in Phoenix after Joe Biden was projected the winner of the U.S. presidency on Saturday. You can watch a live video of the protests above in the video player. The St. Louis couple who waved firearms at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home in June will appear virtually at next week’s Republican National Convention to express their support for President Donald Trump. A Trump adviser on Monday confirmed the participation of Patricia and Mark McCloskey. The news was first reported by The Washington Post. The McCloskeys, who are white, have claimed they were protecting themselves from protesters marching on their private street, but they were each charged by a local prosecutor with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon. LOUISVILLE, Ky. Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills was arrested in Louisville late Tuesday night after he participated in a protest over the death of Breonna Taylor. Stills was among 87 people who were taken into custody after they marched to the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, a police spokesperson said all the protesters, including Stills, were given the chance to leave Camerons home before being arrested. He participated in a march for Taylor in June at the Kentucky state capitol and attended George Floyds funeral in Houston. The Texans wide receiver is entering his second season in Houston after he was traded from Miami.

Jason Mraz is honoring Juneteenth by donating all of the profits from his new album to Black Lives Matter and other organizations working toward equality and justice. The self-proclaimed "Geek in the Pink" will immediately start by donating his $250,000 advance on royalties, he said in a news release. The first six organizations to receive a portion of his donation are Black Lives Matter, San Diego Young Artists Music Academy, RISE San Diego, Grassroots Law Project, Center on Policy Initiatives, and the Equal Justice Initiative. Every year, the artist will choose various organizations that work on advancing “equality and justice” to receive donations from the album’s profits.

"There's no way that they could have mistaken me — with a professional camera — for anything but working press," she said. Like in Tirado's case, many such attacks have been carried out by law enforcement, according to the US Press Freedom Tracker, a nonprofit organization that tracks incidents of violence against journalists covering the protests. SAN ANTONIO – Medical and nursing students from the University of the Incarnate Word and UT Health San Antonio will join together for a “White Coats for Black Lives” protest Sunday. The students will gather at 4 p.m. at the athletic fields at UT Health San Antonio. A participant tells KSAT they are expecting several hundred protesters and said there will be speakers from both schools of medicine as well as the school of nursing. The protest is student-led and participants said the administration was not involved in the planning or organization of the event. There have been “White Coats for Black Lives” protests at hospitals across the country in recent days.

Members of the Minneapolis City Council previously said they would take steps to dismantle the police department, including Bender, who tweeted earlier this week, "Yes. We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with a transformative new model of public safety." Jeremiah Ellison, city councilman for Ward 5, tweeted a similar message Thursday, writing, "We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. President Donald Trump on Sunday tweeted that he had ordered the National Guard to withdraw from the nation's capital following days of peaceful protests.

NORTH CAROLINA George Floyd's second memorial will take place Saturday in the state where he was born after the 11th night of protests ignited by his death. "The memorial is about the life that Mr. George Floyd lived, and this is a time to embrace the family with expressions of love and kindness," Peterkin said. The remembrance of his life follows a night of de-escalation for protests in many cities across the US. "We are going to dramatically rethink how we approach public safety and emergency response," City Council member Jeremiah Ellison tweeted. Responses to demonstrations shiftA sign of the change in the tone of protests and police response has been the change in arrests.

Protesters across the nation are continuing to take to the streets after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white police officer pressed a knee into his neck in Minnesota. DALLAS Officials in Dallas on Saturday lifted a nighttime curfew that had been put in place after several days of demonstrations that saw multiple eruptions of violence. The curfew was lifted after consultation with Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall and City Council, said Dallas City Manager T.C. Weve seen many moving and peaceful protests over the last few days, some of which I joined, Broadnax said in a statement. The city of Dallas and the Dallas Police Department continue to respect and protect the rights of peaceful demonstrators.Broadnax said Dallas residents were safer staying at home due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The curfew had been announced May 31 by Hall after violent protests took place in downtown Dallas and other areas over the death of George Floyd and the treatment of black people by police.

It was an alert from the heart of the raging protests in Minneapolis, posted on an online forum by a fellow member of the Boogaloo movement, a loosely knit group of heavily armed, anti-government extremists. Boogaloo members appear to hold conflicting ideological views with some identifying as anarchists and others rejecting formal titles. Gun-toting Boogaloo members also have appeared at George Floyd protests in Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Atlanta and elsewhere, according to The Washington Post. Known for sporting Hawaiian shirts and arriving to public protests heavily armed, the decentralized Boogaloo movement -- sometimes referred to as the "Boogaloo Bois" -- is often associated with the far-right. On the streets of Minneapolis, Teeter said his group hasn't always been "kitted out" with guns drawn.

SAN ANTONIO Temporary fencing has been placed at Alamo Plaza as protests continue in San Antonio. Alamo Plaza, which has been closed off during nightly curfews, will now have the blockades to secure The Alamo, according to its Twitter account. There will be access points for pedestrians on Alamo and Houston streets, The Alamos Twitter account said Wednesday. A fence has been placed in Alamo Plaza in an effort to prevent any destruction during protests in San Antonio. City officials announced Tuesday the Alamo Plaza will be closed from 8:30 p.m.-6 a.m. daily until Sunday.

Derek Chauvin, the officer seen kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, was charged on Friday with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The state murder trial of Michael Slager, the officer charged with shooting Walter Scott, ended in 2016 with a hung jury and mistrial. In 2016, none of the six officers charged in Freddie Gray's death were convicted of wrongdoing. Floyds death was a homicide by officers who taunted him while holding him down for more than eight minutes, he said in a statement.

Kellie Chauvin separated from her husband on May 28, the day before he was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for the death of George Floyd, according to the filing. Chauvin said in the filing she wants to change her last name, among other requests. She didn't say in the filing which surname she'd take once the divorce was finalized, but the petition notes that she was formerly known as Kellie Thao and Kellie Xiong. She has two children from her previous marriage, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported in a profile of Kellie Chauvin in 2018.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said law enforcement, public safety staff and local businesses are prepared for the peaceful protest planned for Saturday afternoon. The protest is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Travis Park and is in response to the recent killing of Houston native, George Floyd. McManus said 75 Department of Public Safety Troopers as well as numerous San Antonio police officers and other officials will be working at the protest for safety, in case behaviors escalate. McManus said he met with the protest organizers and believes the protest will be peaceful. What happened to the police officers is an absolute justice in this case,” McManus said.
