When firefighters arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of South W.W. White Road, they found a faulty piece of equipment in the kitchen ignited the flames. āWe do believe it was probably a kitchen fire grease maybe got up into some of the vents,ā said Woody Woodward, a spokesman with the San Antonio Fire Department. āA grease fire like that can spread through the vents and can be hard to chase down.āWoodward said employees and two customers who were inside the restaurant got out safely. A damage estimate wasnāt immediately available and itās not known when the restaurant will reopen.

The Texas Restaurant Relief Fund was created to help restaurants and bars stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Texas Restaurant Association announced that funds will also be going to independent businesses who have suffered due to the protests and riots. The relief fund was created in late March, and since then, the fund has raised and distributed $2.23 million in grants of up to $5,000 to more than 400 restaurants in Texas.
