SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Transportation’s new program that helps stranded motorists in San Antonio is moving into phase two and expanding its service area. “During the first month of service, the HERO program has successfully provided assistance at approximately 1,500 incidents. TxDOT's new HERO program will provide roadside assistance along 239 miles of highway in the greater San Antonio area. (TxDOT)In November, the HERO service will expand to 24 hours a day, seven days a week with full service provided Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m and limited service provided Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 24 hours a day Saturday and Sunday. SAN ANTONIO Stranded motorists with flat tires, who run out of gas, who need a jump-start or even a cell phone to use have a new HERO to call -- TxDOT.
