San Antonio Independent School District released a short survey on Wednesday to solicit ideas on how its closed schools can be repurposed into facilities for the community’s use.

SAISD Superintendent Dr. Jaime Aquino, who was not made available for an interview for this story, blamed the heating woes on human error and widespread system failures.

During a community meeting on Wednesday, the South San ISD board voted to close West Campus High School.

Several parents and teachers are pushing back against San Antonio ISD’s proposed plan to close a fifth of its schools.

San Antonio ISD staff proposed closing 19 schools in the district as part of its “rightsizing” plan’s initial recommendation.

The closures include Stonewall Flanders Elementary and the Fenley Center. Both campuses will be closed Wednesday, May 17. as an abundance of caution, said the district in a press release.

Harlandale ISD will close four elementary schools after the school board voted to pass the measure 4-3.

The South San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees voted 5-2 in favor of closing three campuses on Wednesday night.

SAN ANTONIO – Following last week’s icy conditions and power outages, schools are still announcing changes and closures this week. Great Hearts San Antonio Schools - Classes expected to resume on Monday, Feb. 22. Premier High School San Antonio Windcrest - Classes resuming on Monday, Feb. 22. Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD - All SCUC ISD campuses will be open on Monday, Feb. 22 for both In Person and at-home learning. South San ISD - South San ISD campuses and offices will be closed through Friday.
