Canyon Lake Fire Chief Darren Brinkkoeter said the adults were airlifted to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle. The child was released to a parent who later arrived at the scene. The crash was reported at 1:04 p.m. in the 200 block of Primrose Path in Canyon Lake, Brinkkoeter said. The flight path shows the plane took off from Fort Stockton around 11 a.m. and was bound for Canyon Lake Airport.

The man, a construction worker, fell into the trench while his crew was excavating near Galm Road and Swayback Ranch. He was waist-deep in dirt, officials said after the dramatic rescue. After San Antonio Fire Department crews were able to pull the man out of the hole, he was immediately transported to the hospital an Airlife helicopter. About five to 10 San Antonio Fire Department members lowered themselves into the trench to strap the man to a stretcher.

A San Antonio Water System spokesperson said a non-SAWS contractor was doing work in the area, used a power tool and broke a 20-inch water main. A total of 600 accounts or addresses were affected by the water main break and there was a loss of pressure in the area, according to SAWS officials. That area is still experiencing little to no water pressure and nearby residents will need to boil water until the issue is resolved. Crews will be working on the water main break all night to restore pressure and repair the damage.
