A projection by the Association of American Medical Colleges says the U.S will face a physician shortage of up to 86,000 doctors by 2036. Texas is doing better but can't keep up with the population grown.

The Texas Supreme Court has asked the licensing board to offer doctors guidance on how to interpret the medical exception to the state’s abortion ban. Some doctors say that wouldn’t be enough reassurance.

Senate Bill 14 would ban doctors from providing kids with transition-related treatments that medical groups recommend for children with gender dysphoria.

Medical professionals across the state have expressed confusion over what care they can provide amid Texas’ abortion ban, leading to some patients allegedly receiving delayed care or being turned away.

The Texas Medical Association says some hospitals in Texas have reportedly refused to treat patients with major pregnancy complications for fear of violating the state’s abortion ban.

Depending what choices we make this winter may very well determine our risk of contracting the coronavirus. The Texas Medical Association has released a COVID-19 risk chart to give guidance on which establishments, events and spaces are considered low, medium and high risk for contracting the virus. Bexar County surpasses 15,000 COVID-19 casesIt ranks bars, religious services, large concerts, movie theaters, gyms and amusement parks as the places with the highest risk of getting infected. Those establishments, with the exception of bars, are allowed to stay open in Texas despite the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. Abbott and local officials have taken a tougher stance on social distancing in recent weeks as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise. Texas has recorded 200,557 virus cases and 2,655 deaths as of Monday.

The request came as Texas set a new record high for COVID-19 cases Tuesday. The state's GOP leaders have maintained that the three-day convention, which typically draws thousands of attendees, will go forward and that face coverings will not be mandated, even as Republican Gov. In Florida, doctors have also called for pushing back the Republican National Convention that is scheduled for August, when President Donald Trump is expected to accept the GOP nomination. The organization is also a sponsor of the convention, which is scheduled to begin July 16.
