The investigation, which was finalized Jan. 13, found that Nix violated the university’s handbook of operating procedures pertaining to inappropriate sexual conduct. SAN ANTONIO – Jeff Traylor is officially out for his first-ever bowl game as the head football coach of the UTSA Roadrunners after the school announced on Christmas Eve that he tested positive for COVID-19 a second time. In a statement, the university says Traylor received his second positive test on Thursday afternoon, even though he is not experiencing any symptoms. Traylor has remained in isolation since his first positive test on Wednesday and is following the guidance set forth by university medical staff and state and local health officials. Since Traylor will not be able to travel with the team, UTSA associate head football coach and offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. will serve as acting head coach on Saturday. The Roadrunners face off against 16-Lousiana in the ServPro First Responders Bowl at 2:30 p.m. in Dallas on the campus of SMU.

Although a 51-48 double overtime win over I-35 rivals, Texas State, in their season opener doesn’t hurt, Runners fans were already poised to embrace first year UTSA head coach, Jeff Traylor, in his first game heading the team. Caleb Hopkins, a 2016 UTSA alumnus, said it’s been a few years since there was this much energy surrounding the program. “I’m super excited," said Laura. Fans will get to another chance to see the Runners in action in their home opener Saturday when UTSA hosts Stephen F. Austin at the Alamodome at 2pm.

SAN ANTONIO – For their performances in UTSA’s dramatic 51-48 double-overtime victory over Texas State on Saturday, sophomore running back Sincere McCormick and senior kicker Hunter Duplessis were named the Conference USA (C-USA) Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively. McCormick spearheaded a rushing attack that tallied 330 yards on the ground, and he was quick to credit the offensive line for paving the way to victory. “Without them, I wouldn’t have 197 yards,” McCormick said. SAN ANTONIO UTSA football was scheduled to open the 2020 college football season at defending national champion LSU, but that game is now off. Today, the Southeastern Conference moved to a 10-game conference-only football schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Roadrunners, who play in Conference USA, were slated to make $1.4 million for opening the season at LSU on Sept. 5 in Baton Rouge, La. Losing that kind of money is a tough blow for UTSA and the entire athletic program.
