Some of San Antonio’s youngest and best orchestra players are gracing German audiences with their talent this week.

High School students from 12 countries will be visiting San Antonio and performing in a concert with students from the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio or YOSA.

The Big Give, a 24-hour online fundraiser for local nonprofits, is underway and one of the organizations taking part in the event is the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, or YOSA.

Musicians Diego and Emilio Navaira Jr. are half of a local supergroup performing with the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio for a one-night event at the Tobin Center.

YOSA is one of four local organizations putting on a virtual gala called “Celebration,” benefiting the performing arts of San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio or YOSA is making the most out of the current situation and wants to keep young musicians engaged. Minority, low-income youth thrive in Youth Orchestras of San AntonioFor the first time ever YOSA will hold a Virtual Summer Symphony Camp from July 13-17. The one week camp will feature unique opportunities for orchestral studies and alternative music styles. Also, young musicians who want to be part of YOSA should send in a video audition no later than July 15. Viva Selena orchestra concert will honor the Queen of TejanoAuditions are free and results will be announced before the end of this summer.

Woodlawn Theatre – The Woodlawn Theatre is kicking off the year with their production of The Music Man. The show as about a con man named Harold Hill who tries to dupe the residents of River City, Iowa with his moneymaking scheme first debuted on Broadway in 1957. For this production, the Woodlawn has partnered with the nonprofit YOSA(Youth Orchestras of San Antonio) and will be collecting new or used musical instruments and supplies to support the music education programs that reach more than 2,500 young musicians throughout San Antonio each year.
