Some of San Antonio’s youngest and best orchestra players are gracing German audiences with their talent this week.

High School students from 12 countries will be visiting San Antonio and performing in a concert with students from the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio or YOSA.

The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio are performing Queen’s most popular songs at the Tobin Center.

The Big Give, a 24-hour online fundraiser for local nonprofits, is underway and one of the organizations taking part in the event is the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, or YOSA.

Fiona spoke to Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) music director Troy Peters on Wednesday about the teen music program and how its helping to transform children into world class musicians. You know, the kids who go through the YOSA experience dont all become professional musicians, but they all develop a larger sense of their potential, Peters said. Woodlawn Theatre – The Woodlawn Theatre is kicking off the year with their production of The Music Man. The show as about a con man named Harold Hill who tries to dupe the residents of River City, Iowa with his moneymaking scheme first debuted on Broadway in 1957. For this production, the Woodlawn has partnered with the nonprofit YOSA(Youth Orchestras of San Antonio) and will be collecting new or used musical instruments and supplies to support the music education programs that reach more than 2,500 young musicians throughout San Antonio each year.
