Family identifies motorcyclist who police say died after rear-ending car at high speed

SAN ANTONIO – The family of a motorcyclist who police said died after he rear-ended a car Tuesday night has identified him as as 24-year-old John Guevara.

According to a preliminary report from police, Guevara was traveling at a high rate of speed down West Martin Street when he hit the back of a vehicle making a turn onto Northwest 19th Street.

The crash occurred just after 10 p.m., not far from North Zarzamora Street.

Police said Guevara was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the street. 

Guevara was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the sedan involved in the incident will not be charged. 

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
