Car goes airborne, hits pickup truck, SUV on far West Side

1 critically injured in crash on Culebra, Old Grissom roads

SAN ANTONIO – 1 person was critically injured in a 3-vehicle crash Thursday morning on the far West Side.

Officer Doug Greene, a San Antonio police spokesman, said a white compact car was headed eastbound on Culebra Road around 11 a.m. when the driver lost control, hit a curb, sending the vehicle airborne into oncoming traffic.

The car struck a pickup truck, causing the truck to roll over, Greene said. The car also struck an SUV.

A passenger in the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Greene said.

A pregnant woman in the SUV was taken to University Hospital as a precaution. No one in the pickup truck was injured.

Greene said it doesn't appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area while police investigate and crews clean up the crash.
