San Antonio police say they are presently working a major crash on Interstate 10 eastbound at East Houston Street.

Both the eastbound and westbound sides of Interstate 10 East are shut down at the Houston Bridge.

According to police, just before 4 a.m. a vehicle went between both parts of the highway and ended up under the bridge and caught fire.

One person was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where they are currently listed as stable.

SAPD said there were early reports of structural issues to the bridge, but it appears to be OK. The Texas Department of Transportation is now checking it out.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
