WILSON COUNTY, Texas – The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was shot by a rifle early Tuesday morning.
Deputies responded to a call just after 3 a.m.at the intersection of FM 3432 and County Road 324 and found a man inside a pickup truck with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Authorities say someone had driven the man to the location and then called for help. The man was taken by EMS to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injury.
Deputies say they later found a crime scene in the 700 block of Live Oak Drive and now believe there was some type of altercation there involving several people which led to the man being shot.
The sheriff’s office said two people are in custody and they are being questioned as witnesses. Deputies are also looking for others, officials said.
Deputies found the rifle and are presently searching the property, “because there’s a lot going on there.”
The sheriff’s office said a car later crashed at the intersection where the man was found and it slowed down traffic. It was unrelated to the shooting. The roadway is now open in all directions.
